It was curious to me how no one features on this show was Muslim. I'm glad they represented a Sikh woman, but India has 182 million Muslims, plus those of Indian-descent abroad. The process is not different than a lot of Indian-Muslims I know, so it was kind of weirdly absent.
I'm really familiar with the matchmaking industry for Indians and the diaspora. Muslim Indians generally only go to Muslim matchmakers. There are a lot of Muslim matchmakers and that's the only clientele they have. Because they are a huge population in India they have the ability to have their own services and they have entire wedding businesses dedicated solely to Muslim clientele. Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Christians, are a much smaller religious minority so take part in the more generic matchmaking industry. You saw in the show there were biodatas for Catholic, Sikh, Jain.
