We just had a princess party for my 4 year old who is obsessed with princesses. I encouraged dress up but we also had tons of extra costumes around for kids. One girl came dressed in a NASA costume and one girl came in a pirate costume. And some kids didn't dress up at all. Absolutely no one cared. Let your daughter wear whatever she wants.
This makes me feel so much better. Thank you. She likes to be comfortable and clothes/hair are a battle for us. She hates when I brush her hair. She hates any fancy. She is a t shirt and leggings girl.
We had a kid with sensory issues. Finding a t-shirt that goes with the theme is often a good way to go. (I.E. t-shirt with picture of BUzz lightyear vs. an astronaut costume). There's probably a t-shirt with something princessy on it available at someplace like Walmart.
