Seeing as both Alexandria and Arlington have recently changed the name of "Jeff Davis Highway" to Richmond Highway, Arlington changed Washington-Lee HS to Washington-Loving (after the couple in the lawsuit that ended laws against interracial marriage)  and Fairfax has changed JEB Stuart HS to Justice HS, I think that is not correct, at least for NoVa.   Also you should take a look at our legislative delegation - almost all Dems, some moderate, some progressive, including women, POC's, Jews, and one transgender.

I am aware of VA's racism. (I grew up in rural VA.) That said CA has had issues with racism towards Asians and Latinos. I think the culture here allows for more economic diversity due to space. You can have 1 million dollar houses next to low-income housing apartments. There are also more military installations here which affects the type of tech industry we have here. Even though I lean Democratic, I find the over the top liberal virtue signaling of the valley stultifying. [/quote]
