Dude, in the VERY next post, I did say the ROSTER for next year (which has been finalized, and is known amongst players, parents, and others in the club.) So yes, something that has not yet happened yet, but has been decided.
And that proof demonstrates the other side of the same coin, little to no outside interest in FCV. You want balance. For years the balance was with many outside players and recruitment. Now the balance is very few outside players, INDICATING little no no outside interest in the club. Neither scenario is ideal. This is not a matter of moving the goal posts. Supply and demand are the issue now and there are just to many as good options for talented players to simply stay where they are or move only to the geographic closest best option. The majority of players interested in FCV or any other club frankly are players who's parents feel their own club overlooked their child or just no longer wish to remain. Many are also B and C team players seeing if they can get lucky and hop onto a DA or ECNL team in another club hoping a set of fresh eyes will see them differently. But that is far from TOP talent truly seeking FCV or other cubs out as in days not to long ago. And this is not a bash on FCV, this is what the landscape is now and for the foreseeable future. The constant attacks on Spirit/Metro are indicative of this landscape. FCV isn't afraid of Metro now, but they are concerned about the overall hit on diluting the player pool overall for them going forward. Loudoun getting ECNL has dried up the well significantly for FCV. If posts here are indicators that confirms the overall lack of interest form a neighboring club that did provide a number of players over the years. So now the question is how will FCV fare going forward? Did they develop quality players and teams? We'll soon see. If they did, then they will be fine, if they didn't it will be shown soon.
Do you do this deep of a dive for every club or have some obsession with tearing down FCV? This is moving the goalposts. I will agree on one thing. Too many "elite" level teams for one area will dilute the talent. However, the GDA (at this moment) still provides the top level of soccer especially for the younger ages. FCV is the top of THAT level and will be a desirable destination. Could things change? Of course. At the moment, Arlington MU and FCV(STJ) are competing for GDA players. Arlington will get their share, MU is full of uncertainty in terms of viability and success and FCV has some questions given the STJ merger. How this all plays out is a GUESS nothing more. As far as next year goes, what is most likely is that FCV will still have the strongest girls teams at the ages having ECNL and GDA in the area. The ECNL clubs will battle each other for the same players and are doing so right as we speak and it is a crap shoot on who wins that battle (my money is on McLean since Clyde and Nadir are there) and VDA (protected by geography). FCV will keep almost all of their top players so expecting things to drop off isn't realistic for next year. MU will improve albeit slightly as rosters supposedly shrink. Arlington will likely have little turnover as well since they have shown that historically. But to come on here and say that Loudoun is all of a sudden going to go gangbusters at the older ages is just hoping against historical evidence.
Also, at no point did anyone suggest that older Loudoun teams were going to go gangbusters. The older age groups all around are pretty set. The 06, 07 and younger age groups are reflecting how these clubs will all do going forward. FCV's older established teams will continue to dominate and Loudoun's will get better at a slower pace. 07 is the line.
