We didn't make a big deal out of it, but if someone asked the sex and we said we didn't know, older people tended to think that was great (except for a few relatives who were slightly annoyed because they wanted to buy gendered baby clothes), while younger people were more likely to claim that they would be unable to prepare for a baby unless they knew the sex in advance.
