Such a strange story. Do you think that this particular group of kids was slightly unstable before Larry even came into the picture (obviously Talia was, given her upbringing)? He realized they were kind of a bunch of unstable or mentally ill kids to begin with and he latched on. He’s clearly mentally ill himself. When I think back on myself at that age and in college, I really don’t think I would have called for this shit. I would have recognized immediately that this older man is off, based simply on two facts: 1) he was just released from jail and 2) he had nowhere else to go or to be other than with a group of college co-eds. Those two facts alone would have alerted me and I would have backed myself out of that situation so fast.
Yes, the SLC students involved seemed unstable and vulnerable, or easy targets. Shocking the school did nothing to confirm or deny Larry was living in student housing. I can't believe none of the parents showed up on campus, which is what I would have done. Then I would have called the police, if I found this guy living in my kid's dorm room.
Those kids weren’t minors. You could maybe take it up with the landlord. Try and see if Larry has a parole officer. I would bet the daughter laid plenty of groundwork in the months leading up to his arrival. These were “woke” Sarah Lawrence students, and he was a victim of the system. I can easily envision this playing out.
It was a dorm, so essentially the school was the landlord. They did nothing even after at least one set of parents complained.
