She gets a monthly stipend and health care for the 4 adopted if through foster care and gets a monthly stipend, WIC/little kids and health insurance.  So, 8 kids getting stipends is how they do it.  She's using it as income to stay home. Legally she should not be homeschooling foster kids.[/quote]

Maybe they don’t homeschool the foster children? We aren’t that close, but I know their kids are homeschooled.

I didn’t only mean how they do it financially, more how they can manage to do all that and not go crazy. Their house is only 3 or 4 bedrooms, they still manage to have lives outside of their children, she never seems to be lacking sleep, etc. I find it admirable. [/quote]

The house size is not an issue and she's probably only doing minimum for the kids, especially if she has lives outside of them.  Or, the kids are parenting each other or they have help.  Depending on where they live the stipend/subsity can be anywhere from $400-1200+ per child.  Average is about $800 plus health care and WIC (for little ones).  With 4 adopted children and up to 4 foster, she's doing pretty well financially as most don't spend that on the kids.  If she has that many she probably passes down clothing or gets them free and gets a clothing allowance for the foster kids.  So, its basically feeding them.  She puts what 3-4 kids per room.  That actually sounds pretty selfish given how much money the kids are bringing in - she could easily be getting $5-8K or more a month.[/quote]
