I wouldn’t exclude the general “fun” factor for girls either. My DD has been on 3 not so great teams in a row and I think it’s definitely taken a toll on her soccer outlook. Good coaching is obviously important but comradeship and team chemistry definitely play a huge role in development too, if only looking at the impact on a player’s motivation to improve.
This is an excellent point, especially for someone like OP, who has a 12 yo daughter. Given the high dropout rate of girls in sports at 12-14, I would definitely be concerned with this if my 12 yo daughter was switching teams. It ties into the other posts about the importance of attending practices at potential new teams, talking to the parents on those teams, and going to one or two of their games. OP's daughter definitely needs to get a feel for her potential new teammates. She's not going to go to a couple practices and conclude that a roster is like the movie Mean Girls, but I do think OP and his daughter could get a decent sense of team chemistry by seeing how the girls interact before, during and after a couple practices and games.
