To PP or future posters who have been accepted -- congratulations! I have an older child finishing at Eastern this year, and another who went through our home middle school and is in high school. Although the older two are different kids with different interests (older is a math science kid, middle is humanities all the way) I can strongly recommend Eastern based on our experience. If all the other factors work out for you and your child, I think the program is wonderful -- my kid had the benefit of not only a strong peer cohort but also a great curriculum and experienced teachers working together to implement the curriculum. The English/social studies program at our home MS is really a joke in comparison -- honors just means grade-level, and there's not a whole lot of emphasis on writing and critical thinking. It's definitely a trade-off with commute time and other factors, but my middle child wouldn't have traded back if she could. I'd go to the open houses for sure before making your decision.[/quote]
