The trial happened after they were separated I believe.  I read an article that was written when the trial was taking place and it mentioned that there were no friends and family at the trial and specifically stated that "his wife, who is divorcing him, was absent."

His ex-wife was one of his dancers. He married her after the marriage to Aaliyah was annulled. She has social media posts calling the accusers liars and telling people to go to his concerts. Her act now is just that, an act.[/quote]
