How on earth a 5s is operating in iOS whatever version we are on is beyond me but it is not the norm. It's not about wanting a new phone every two years. Eventually, the operating system currently in place is not operable by the older phones. An iPhone 4 might make a call but at this point that is ALL it can do.[/quote]

I had a 5 till a year ago.  Now I have an SE that I will keep as long as possible because of the size.  They work just fine.  You don't need the newest operating system.[/quote]

You do if you use apps that require it. Operating systems aren't like bells and whistles people are adding on. They run the friggin phone, if it updates eventually you have to get it as the old one is phased out. [/quote]
