Well, that depends on the specifics of the family situation.  Tuition rates are indeed out of control relative to household income.

That wasn’t my point. There are plenty of schools out there where yearly cost of attendance is less than $25K so Even if the family is full pay you can avoid being six figures in debt by attending those schools. [/quote]

Instead of paying for a mediocre school, I much rather send my child to community college, have them work PT and live at home. Then they can go off to a stellar college and graduate with a more prestigious diploma for half the cost as the mediocre. When you take out housing and meal plans junior and senior years, even off site it is cheaper. [/quote]
