Does no one ever have parents drive anymore? I'm 30 and every field trip I ever went on had parents drive kids in their vans and chaperone.
Liability. That would never happen today.
We used to do this at our MCPS school, but not in the past couple of years. It did keep costs down, parent drivers were required to sign a form that they had a certain amount of insurance on their car, and off we went. But even though it kept costs down and I do have a tight budget, it always felt a little weird to me to drive around with a stranger’s kid or three. I imagine some parents who couldn’t drive/ come on the trip might have felt quite uncomfortable having their kids ride around with strangers. I don’t think you would neeed to be a helicopter parent to be concerned. Busses, charter or school, are way better.
