[/quote] There is no requirement by any licensing or oversight bodies of health care providers for them to provide personal details about their own lives, unless freely offered. And HIPAA applies to everyone, including dentists, so other provider staff shouldn't provide that info without permission. You can decide you don't want to go somewhere for any reason you want, including that they won't give you details about your dentist's urgent medical needs, or whatever. But honestly, you don't have a right to know. You have a right to be contacted ASAP if they need to reschedule, and you should as common courtesy have your needs regarding rescheduling accommodated insofar as possible.[/quote]
