The Papadopolous plea bargain was announced to send a message. The indictment notes that he has been cooperating with the investigation since July. He did a bunch of things that could have gotten him jail time, but the only thing he's actually charged with is a single count of lying to the FBI. Ergo, his cooperation must have been particularly valuable. This sends a powerful message to other people that resistance is futile.[/quote]
