I guess PP has forgotten about Kelly handing Trump a sword to use on the press, or his very antagonistic relationship with the press as the head of DHS. I can't say that I like Kelly much, he seems nutty himself. But he also is smart enough to know that nukes are a no-no, and seems to have realized that his boss is beyond nutty, approaching 25th Amendment territory.
Here's what progressives don't really seem to grasp. Although it's very "impolite" for politicians and national leaders to deny that nukes are a "no-no," in actuality, nukes are a very big "yes-yes" and always have been. The Pentagon is full of scenarios in which we use nukes. Nukes are a core part of our national defense and deterrence scheme. That's why we have MORE OF THEM then the entire rest of the world, combined! You may not want it, you may not like it, it may scare you--but the central core of our national defense policy has been our nuclear arsenal. The brilliance (crazyness?) of North Korea is to openly decide to develop their own nuclear capability to try to "even the scales" and basically dare us to stop them. We have lots of nukes, they probably only have a few. But a few is enough for N. Korea to accomplish what it wants--which is to deter the United States. It seems to be working.
