Personally, I prefer the late fall tryout model over the summer model that some other regions use. Players get a chance to reflect on the past season and explore other options through camps and clinics before deciding where to tryout for next season. While most clubs have some number of returners every year, forcing players to decide if they want to play for the same club next season immediately at the end of the prior season seems like it would just be stressful in a different way and could result in some players not exploring more competitive clubs for fear of losing their advantage for a spot with last season’s club.
