How will Russia equip and train 300,000 troops. They have lost some much equipment. Unwilling conscripts kill officers and sabotage equipment.
They won't. IMHO, according to 1960's doctrine, I think they're preparing for nuclear war. "The independent Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta Europe reported that a source in the presidential administration said Russia was seeking to draft more than 1 million people into the army." “All the men, absolutely everyone, was given a draft notice,” said Krieger during an interview with TV Rain from the back of a police van. That included men who had never served in the army, he said, who were now required to appear at their local recruitment centres." "In Buryatia, activists said they didn’t understand why local officials were recruiting so aggressively, with students at local universities receiving draft notices while they were sitting in class." https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/sep/22/russia-mobilisation-ukraine-war-army-drive
I don’t understand where you are getting nuclear war out of this?
Soviet doctrine of "full mobilization". This was common knowledge for cold war era. It seems this knowledge has been lost? They'll need the troops to manage the population / refugees, ensure defenses are sufficient that their strategic nuclear sites can't be easily overrun, things like that. IF they were invading Ukraine, 300K would be appropriate. But if the 1m is correct and the 300K is a deception op, then I do think nuclear war prep is more likely. Do the math. Russian's can't house, feed, equip, train 300K troops overnight, let alone 1m. Do you think the Russians have 21m meals a week lying around? Or 1m army cots, let alone 25,000 field tents? Even at 80K rubles ($667/month - private's pay) that's still 667m a month. Where does that money come from?
