Lol. The Russian army was about to collapse. The contract army was about to go home. Mobilization forces them to stay while the sham referendums allow conscripts to be sent to Ukraine. They're just desperately trying to hold on. It's all short term thinking. Just trying to survive until Spring at this point. One last chance at hoping the energy blackmail will cause Europe to split.
Correct.
I, a pro-Ukrainian French person, have every sympathy for the Russian people, and do think we need to offer humanitarian visas. They already protested the war in the Spring, and got beaten up, threatened, put in jail and fined. But as usual, it's the poor people who will suffer: the ones who cannot afford plane tickets, who don't have cars to leave the country. Dozens of thousands of Russian men will die for a delusional war they didn't want for a leader they never liked. Just because their suffering pales in comparison with what the Ukrainian people is collectively suffering, it doesn't mean they deserve it.
Putin should be tried for a genocidal war against Ukraine AND putting his own people in grave physical and economic jeopardy.

Ah yes, let’s blame this on NATO rather than Russian aggression. Amirite, comrade? It’s never the abuser’s fault. Nope. But I imagine you’re a Trumper and probably a wife eater too. They usually go hand and hand.

Too cowardly to join the army?

They won't. IMHO, according to 1960's doctrine, I think they're preparing for nuclear war.
"The independent Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta Europe reported that a source in the presidential administration said Russia was seeking to draft more than 1 million people into the army." “All the men, absolutely everyone, was given a draft notice,” said Krieger during an interview with TV Rain from the back of a police van. That included men who had never served in the army, he said, who were now required to appear at their local recruitment centres." "In Buryatia, activists said they didn’t understand why local officials were recruiting so aggressively, with students at local universities receiving draft notices while they were sitting in class." https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/sep/22/russia-mobilisation-ukraine-war-army-drive
I don’t understand where you are getting nuclear war out of this?
