UVA is small compared to other flagships, so fewer in-state students are admitted which adds to the problem. We knew there was no chance DD would get in, but it’s annoying to some that they will be counseled not to bother even sending in an application. Then there are those parents whose child applied but either were waitlisted or flat out rejected. For those lucky few who do get in, UVA is a financial windfall. That drives parents crazy -hence the ignorant but vitriolic comments here and on this site.[/quote]
