The posters who blame parents for everything, generally they are the parents of a 5 or under who just happens to be very compliant, but they swear it's down to them and doing everything right as a parent.
This, and also one of my least favorite people in real life. Just people who assume that if someone is struggling with something, it must be because they are incompetent, and never because the thing they are struggling with is hard. And on DCUM, so often these posters are smug about stuff that 99% of parents struggle with. Like if I text my mom group about potty training, almost every single person in the group can commiserate with the challenge. But when I read potty training posts on DCUM, you'd think that 90% of children potty train with no issues by 2.5 and that just some small minority of terrible parents run into problems. But the reverse is actually true.
The smug parents here are astonishing. When things go right with my kids, I figure it happened in spite of my parenting and breathe a sigh of relief. I can't imagine being so smug that you think you have parenting all figured out. A related, but slightly different addition to this list is a particular poster who believes that teen depression and suicidal ideation is nonsense that no parent should put up with.
I have not come across that poster but if I did, I’d report their posts immediately. One of the few things I always report on DCUM is stuff that is wrong/triggering/inciting around the issue of suicide. Many suicidal people seek out help on anonymous boards because of the intense stigma around mental health and suicidal ideation, and I take it very seriously when posters write things that could exacerbate a suicidal person’s thinking.
