A passenger from the Mexico voyage, Judy Cadiz of Lodi said she and her husband became ill afterward but did not give it much thought until learning a fellow traveler had died of the virus. Now they cannot get a straight answer about how to get tested, she said. With Mark Cadiz, 65, running a fever, the couple worries not only about themselves, but about the possibility that — if they contracted the infection — they could have passed it on to others. “They’re telling us to stay home, but nobody told me until yesterday to stay home. We were in Sacramento, we were in Martinez, we were in Oakland. We took a train home from the cruise,” Judy Cadiz said Thursday. “I really hope that we’re negative so nobody got infected. ?????????????????????????????????????????/ Oh sweet Jesus
I mean, they didn't knowingly do anything wrong.... they were on vacation, likely not paying any attention to news. They came home, felt ill, NOT unusual following travel.
Not paying attention to the news. That is knowingly doing something wrong.
If you have the ability to book travel, traipse around on planes/trains/boats and ubers [see Mexico] then you have the sense to not traipse after a cruise or go onshore when you just don't know...what to Corona cruise? Then each ship should not b allowed to dock and all have to stay on it until 14 days plus and no negative tests. Meanwhile MOCO has decided that if schools close it will have some sites available for regional eating/free food. https://patch.com/maryland/silverspring/mcps-coronavirus-plan-remote-teaching-food-accommodations MCPS also said it would make accommodations for those who need food. "Depending on the length of time schools are closed, we are prepared to provide meals at several schools as regional meal sites. Information on the sites will be shared with the community once it is finalized," MCPS wrote That is nonsensical and are other countries or jurisdictions planning that? Box of non perishables dropped off for each FARMS student - 1 week supply makes sense.
Given the amount of food insecurity in Montgomery County (16.9% of children) which is second only to Baltimore City the school district knows their role in supporting low-income or low-access families and children and is making efforts to do so even when kids aren't in school. Makes sense to me.
I posted the concept of dropping off non-perishables rather than having large gatherings or any gatherings to provide mandated food for FARMS students. On what planet does it make sense to have them congregate in another location when their own school is closed due to coronavirus? MCPS has names, addresses, contact numbers for each student. If a family has more than FARMS student then that family gets more than box. Note think about cruise ships - food is dropped off at rooms NOT served at bulk gatherings in a cafeteria.
