A reporter asked if officials could, at the very least, provide an "upcountry" or "downcounty" description of where the three patients reside. Gayles declined.
This is beyond ridiculous. We have a right to know. When other diseases and viruses break out they are very specific. Even says stores, train stations, ATM machines. What is the big secret here. This is so shady.
Why are people so obsessed with learning where the person lives and where they've been? It truly does not matter. They've been out, and other people have touched what they touched, and they've then gone and touched more things. Knowing this information may provide you with a sense of security if they live in Germantown and you live in Bethesda, but it is a totally artificial sense of security. It doesn't matter.
Because: a gym they might have used needs disinfecting. The school where their grandchildren go needs info, where there adult children work needs info, their commute to work on a metro needs cleaning, the eldercare event hall they attended needs disinfecting , as does the facility and staff. That's why. That's how it can help be contained. That's what is happening in NY.
If they use a gym the gym has been notified, if they went to a Hallmark story last Wednesday that store has been notified. They are just not saying all the info publicly.

Now they cannot get a straight answer about how to get tested, she said.
With Mark Cadiz, 65, running a fever, the couple worries not only about themselves, but about the possibility that — if they contracted the infection — they could have passed it on to others.
“They’re telling us to stay home, but nobody told me until yesterday to stay home. We were in Sacramento, we were in Martinez, we were in Oakland. We took a train home from the cruise,” Judy Cadiz said Thursday. “I really hope that we’re negative so nobody got infected.

Oh sweet Jesus
I mean, they didn't knowingly do anything wrong.... they were on vacation, likely not paying any attention to news. They came home, felt ill, NOT unusual following travel.
Not paying attention to the news. That is knowingly doing something wrong.
If you have the ability to book travel, traipse around on planes/trains/boats and ubers [see Mexico] then you have the sense to not traipse after a cruise or go onshore when you just don't know...what to Corona cruise? Then each ship should not b allowed to dock and all have to stay on it until 14 days plus and no negative tests.
Meanwhile MOCO has decided that if schools close it will have some sites available for regional eating/free food. https://patch.com/maryland/silverspring/mcps-coronavirus-plan-remote-teaching-food-accommodations
MCPS also said it would make accommodations for those who need food.
"Depending on the length of time schools are closed, we are prepared to provide meals at several schools as regional meal sites. Information on the sites will be shared with the community once it is finalized," MCPS wrote
That is nonsensical and are other countries or jurisdictions planning that? Box of [b]non perishables dropped off for each FARMS student - 1 week supply makes sense.
Given the amount of food insecurity in Montgomery County (16.9% of children) which is second only to Baltimore City the school district knows their role in supporting low-income or low-access families and children and is making efforts to do so even when kids aren't in school. Makes sense to me.

All I want to know is how long and where they were at large before finally being tested.
I haven’t ‘figured it out’ but was told by a coworker who claimed to live in the same neighborhood as the older couple. So yes people know.
