https://www.sportskeeda.com/amp/basketball/what-angel-reese-s-gpa-grades-lsu-star-explored So why wasn’t Angel eligible for this award? Academics? In trouble? Something else?
She had too much melanin
Hardly. Angel Reese was a finalist for the award last year at Maryland, when it was awarded to South Carolina superstar, Aliyah Boston. Numerous other Black players were finalists on the Wooden ballot this year, including Maryland's Diamond Miller and Boston. Frankly, claiming that Reese was unjustifiably snubbed based on race subjects her to unfair scrutiny of her academic record. Hopefully, she is figuring it out. I'll also note that the NCAA women's basketball Academic All-American team included Caitlin Clark (All-American Player of the Year - Marketing Major 3.6 GPA) as well as Boston, a communication major with a 3.76 GPA. Among her many accolades, this is Boston's third selection as an Academic All-American. She is remarkable!
