I could see Murkowksi caucusing with the Dems, because she's already an Independent and has shown she can win an election without the Republican Party. I also wouldn't count Romney out. More than anyone in the Senate, he has nothing to lose. He has already stuck his neck out far enough with his impeachment vote that whatever damage he would incur has already happened. He has had his shot at the top job so no more presidential ambitions. He has a strong sense of ethics that he associates with what he learned from his father. And he is just really grounded with a great family. I could see him announcing that he will caucus with Dems to make Schumer the Majority Leader, even though he intends and will continue to vote conservatively on policies, judges, etc. He wants a normal, functional government that adheres to the Constitutional norms.[/quote]
