My situation:

A friend of mine had spouse die. Unexpectedly. 
Friend is struggling with it
I planned to go visit in Australia ages ago

Do I cancel on a close friend and bail? 
Do I go because, frankly, the odds of getting sick are pretty low?

And a true friend will understand. As much guilt as I personally feel for not traveling to my best friend’s funeral when I thought I was miscarrying, she has never blamed me.

Sorry, I meant best friend’s dad’s funeral. Yes, she’s much alive. But her dad dropped dead suddenly with zero half issues on the same day I started spotting. I was terrified, but also horrified that I couldn’t be there.[/quote]
