No, there won’t be for a cruise. Because people will come from all over the world, including hot spots.

Even if its a destination that's not affected. Just the plane ride airport can be a cesspool. What's wrong with just being home or in the area one year?? Absolutely not the end of the world. Not asking to hide in a bunker but darn it just stay still!!)
My situation:
A friend of mine had spouse die. Unexpectedly.
Friend is struggling with it
I planned to go visit in Australia ages ago
Do I cancel on a close friend and bail?
Do I go because, frankly, the odds of getting sick are pretty low?
WWYD?
Cancel. Not even a question.
Asking seriously: how do I tell someone who is genuinely struggling with their loss this?
You be honest. “With the coronavirus I’m not comfortable traveling right now. I will reschedule the trip when things calm down.”
And a true friend will understand. As much guilt as I personally feel for not traveling to my best friend’s funeral when I thought I was miscarrying, she has never blamed me.
Um...how could she blame you if she’s no longer with us?

Anonymous wrote:Anyone know why Europe got hit so hard? I don't think they have a large East Asian population...are there really that many Chinese tourists in the EU? Also the Gulf states are big YIKES. I'd heard the Sheikh (King) of the UAE was hospitalized with coronavirus but I didn't believe it until I saw this map.

I think she's going to be really sad and super annoyed with DH, who's a known control freak. I also thin he'll veto my plan to pick her up from the airport and take the kids to NYC (without DH)...most likely he will say going anywhere would be taking a risk of contracting and transmitting the virus. However, we would be staying in an outer boro with family, not at a hotel or hanging out in Times Square.
Should sister cancel/postpone visit? Should I push for NYC? We're talking long weekend end of March.
NYC??? You can’t be serious. And Your DH is right, your sister from Seattle should stay put. If everyone stayed put we could stop this spread! But no, everyone has to keep traveling like idiots!

I’d rather be stuck in Paris than here. Flight is on time but wow the airport is desserted.
You’ll change your tune if you get sick overseas. Good luck finding your comfort foods over there.
It’s bloody France, not Tajikistan.
Yep and if you ever live overseas long enough - you'll learn that there's nothing like your country's cooking. It's also more expensive to buy food on the Euro, not to mention being hospitalized in a country whose language you don't speak is a bitch.
