While these two universities have some crossover, they are completely opposite when it comes to partying. My son has partied a lot at Miami. We were discussing this last night. Sure, Malibu is close to LA, but it is still far enough removed that it is a completely different environment. My daughter had a lot of fun in her freshman year at Pepperdine. She said she went to LA to party 4 or 5 times during the year. Most of the parties were off campus in Malibu somewhere. A much more  ‘chill” environment as she put it. Miami was go go go. Parties Wed-Sat and a very different campus environment.

If your kid is applying to both schools, make sure they know the environment they are getting into. I 100% agree with the other poster that Pepperdine is a safer environment for a girl. This coming from a Miami grad with a son who just graduated from Miami. [/quote]
