Seriously she is not of the quality the rest of the team. Do you know much about soccer? Even the political correct 1/2 time show was talking about subs. It’s was Rapinoe they were talking about.
DP. Can you explain further? Perhaps I don’t understand soccer very well, but I’m having a hard time understanding how she said not as good as the rest when she saw one of their leading scorers.
Please if you think Rapinio should be on that field you know nothing about soccer. She is a liability out there and the team had to cover for her. She scored because of the teams around her. Again how did she score the goals? Did she create chances? No. Any time the ball went to her and she was pressured it was a turn over. Press is better. Dunn is better. Seriously talk to a few people who know soccer. You obviously know nothing about soccer.
That is why I asked you to explain it to me. I’m happy to hear the reasons behind your opinion if you care to share them.
She can not take player on 1v1, she turns the ball over when pressured(over 8 turn overs in this game in the final 1/3), she has no pace, she is lazy(does not track back or win the ball), she is out of position, her first touch is bad, the other field players must adjust to cover for her because she is out of position, only one defender is sent when she has the ball, her passes are off in terms of weight, touch and timing, etc. etc. She should not be on the field. Oh but she scored 6 goals( 3 penalty kicks, one lucky free kick). She should not be on the field.
And she scored 6 goals and 3 assists, set up 3 scoring chances in the final, vindicating the coach’s choice that she should be on the field. Your stupidity and bias don’t hold up against her contributions towards winning this World Cup. She was clutch, sorry. Cry about it, go yell it out in public through a megaphone. But she’s a back to back world champion.
LOL. My 12 year old DD and friends said pretty much the same as the pp. They were very disappointed to see her bad play receive awards. I guess you think the place kicker on the Patriots is the reason they win super bowl?
The thing is you guys think every thing you see is so insightful and no one else gets it. Yes we can see when she loses a ball in midfield. And yes at 34, after 3 ACL tears, and with maybe a hamstring issue, the work rate and pace is not what it was. The coach wanted her out there for what she brings in the big moments and she was right. She won the Golden Ball - guess it wasn't based on the every touch video. I know you have learned a lot from watching your little girl play travel soccer - maybe you don't know everything just yet.
+1. I also wonder if any of the people here saying Rapinoe doesn’t belong out there anymore have ever played a team sport in any meaningful way.
Its so funny there are so many defenders of Rapinoe. I guess you all have never watched or played soccer. Glad you turned in for the World Cup. She was bad. Here lets do a little game. Who would you the self appointed soccer experts remove from the starting lineup of Germany, France or England to make room for Rapinio? Should be an easy call.
Happy to hear your or other's opinions about Rapinoe, but the following were the player ratings, for the games Rapinoe played, from the BBC's website, which one would think is a neutral source for USWNT player ratings, as well as a sports page and audience that presumably knows a thing or two about soccer. As you will see, Rapinoe was the 2nd highest rated US player for the knockout stages, and was the 4th and 3rd highest in the two Group stage games in which she played, Sweden and Thailand, respectively. But maybe those Brits "have never watched or played soccer", to quote the PP. Wonder how Rapinoe would do on those teams?
Good God, you know very little. Let's go through these one by one. Ellen White plays the 9 for England. That is Alex Morgan's position. Beth Mead and Jodie Taylor played the 11 for England during the WC. That is Rapinoe's position. To answer your question, Rapinoe would start over Beth Mead or Jodie Taylor if Rapinoe played for England in this last WC. This is not even close to a hard decision. Marozsan is a midfielder and plays the 10 for Germany. That is Lavelle's position. Huth and Schuller played the 11 for Germany during the WC. That is Rapinoe's position. To answer your question, Rapinoe would start over Huth and Schuller if Rapinoe played for Germany in this last WC. This too is not even close to a hard decision. Lastly, Diani plays the 7 for France. That is Heath's position. Le Sommer played the 11 for France during the WC. That is Rapinoe's position. To answer your question, Rapinoe would start over Le Sommer if Rapinoe played for France in this last WC. Le Sommer is very, very good, so this is a harder decision than the others. But Rappinoe is also quite good, for all the reasons previously given.
There is no way a competent coach would start Rapinoe over Le Sommer. When both of them played for Lyon, Le Sommer was tied for the 4th on the team in scoring and tied for 9th in assists, while Rapinoe was not in the top ten on the team in either categories.
