Poland will likely not extend the support for the roughly 1 million Ukrainian refugees it is hosting to the same extent for the following year, Polish government spokesperson Piotr Müller told Polsat News on Sept. 18. Poland has hosted the largest number of Ukrainian refugees of all countries. The U.N. records around 6 million refugees residing abroad as a result of Russian aggression. In a show of solidarity with besieged Ukraine, Warsaw decided to assist Ukrainian refugees by waiving residency requirements and providing free access to education, healthcare, and family benefits. Now, the Polish government signals this aid may not be prolonged for 2024, at the very least not at the same scale. "These regulations will simply expire next year," Müller said on television. "I think the regulations will not be extended to a large extent," he noted, adding that the international community should become more involved in the support. https://kyivindependent.com/poland-says-it-may-cut-aid-for-ukrainian-refugees-next-year/
The best and fastest way for Poland to be able to send Ukraine's refugees back would be to continue to do as much as it can to help Ukraine clear and secure its lands from violent illegal Russian occupation. Dropping support for Ukraine and letting Russia win would only lead to more Ukrainian refugees. Any thinking person should be able to understand this.
LOL no Ukrainians would much rather stay in Europe than return even to peaceful Ukraine. Moron.
Unnecessary but I agree that many will choose to stay for their children. I assume a program is established for refugees to work, pay taxes and positively contribute to society as temporary citizens.
The main reason they would "stay for their children" is for peace and security. The best way to achieve peace and security is through defeating Russia. Any thinking person should be able to understand this. The person shrieking "moron" is clearly not a thinking person.
You are clearly unfamiliar with root causes of immigration but that's all right. It's about better quality sausage as often as it is about not getting bombed.
DP Are you familiar with root causes of migration? It is often about escaping fossilized state and police corruption, crime, violence and drug gangs controlling local businesses both legal and illegal (Central America). All parents want some hope for their own children. The Syrian refugee crisis which destabilized EU and required a lot of their foreign aid funding to be spent at home on refugee camps - was caused by Russian ruthlessly bombing Syria civilians and civilian infrastructure in order to destabilize EU. Ukraine may not be perfect but their courage in standing up to the ruthless grandiose ambitions of Putin and his cronies is remarkable. Russia remains the second greatest world nuclear power and their leadership has no moral Compass at all. That said, I can understand that Poland and other neighboring countries who have been providing massive assistance to Ukraine need to take care of their own citizens. I think they realize it is very much on their interests to support efforts to defeat Russia.
