Poland will likely not extend the support for the roughly 1 million Ukrainian refugees it is hosting to the same extent for the following year, Polish government spokesperson Piotr Müller told Polsat News on Sept. 18. Poland has hosted the largest number of Ukrainian refugees of all countries. The U.N. records around 6 million refugees residing abroad as a result of Russian aggression. In a show of solidarity with besieged Ukraine, Warsaw decided to assist Ukrainian refugees by waiving residency requirements and providing free access to education, healthcare, and family benefits. Now, the Polish government signals this aid may not be prolonged for 2024, at the very least not at the same scale. "These regulations will simply expire next year," Müller said on television. "I think the regulations will not be extended to a large extent," he noted, adding that the international community should become more involved in the support. https://kyivindependent.com/poland-says-it-may-cut-aid-for-ukrainian-refugees-next-year/
The best and fastest way for Poland to be able to send Ukraine's refugees back would be to continue to do as much as it can to help Ukraine clear and secure its lands from violent illegal Russian occupation. Dropping support for Ukraine and letting Russia win would only lead to more Ukrainian refugees. Any thinking person should be able to understand this.
LOL no Ukrainians would much rather stay in Europe than return even to peaceful Ukraine. Moron.
Unnecessary but I agree that many will choose to stay for their children. I assume a program is established for refugees to work, pay taxes and positively contribute to society as temporary citizens.
Yes bc a mass migration and welfare program like that is always positively embraced by the native populace! /s
Why? Do you think Ukrainian refugees were welfare status in their homeland? Where are all the doctors, teachers, scientists, architects, tech moguls, business owners, university students? Such an ignorant take.
Tech moguls are not affected by wars. No moguls are. With regard to doctors and scientists, my sincere advice to you is to ride more taxis and poll their owners on what their professions were in their native lands. You'd be surprised how many white collar people are forced to downgrade to menial jobs. Language difficulties, licensure issues, adjustment problems, the list goes on. What's ignorant is to blithely assume that any country in the world, much less Poland, is able to successfully metabolize an additional million workers without damage to the labor market , native born workforce, or the social support systems.
You would be wrong. One more time for the latecomers. https://balkaninsight.com/2023/02/08/ukrainia...ng%20these%20people.
