So there was a meeting in Lorton station December 17th. I missed that.
Where was that posted?
I just checked their FB page and found this in the comments: “I'll email to slides to the PTO email list (are you on it?) but the school board shared several scenarios where 140 new students will shift from Halley ES to Lorton Station ES, which would put us at 99% capacity. I didn't see any scenarios where shifting the 140 students to other elementary schools is being considered - we weren't able to determine why only our school was in consideration. There were also scenarios for Lorton Station ES kids to shift from Hayfield to South County.” I’m sure this goes back to the “where is Hagel Circle ending up” debate. I don’t know why they’d shift LSES kids to South County - LSES is a pretty large school and wouldn’t necessarily suffer like a smaller elementary if it were to become a split feeder, but maybe this is just to add more students to SCMS/HS if Hagel Circle ends up at LSES and Hayfield. The original scenarios created by the SB and BRAC before Thru’s scenarios did have Hagel Cir. At Lorton Station and Hayfield - it was only when Thru got involved that they tried to shift them to Gunston and keep them at South County. There was speculation here that the influential Mason Neck group would get involved to ensure no more students were added to Gunston and that may have been what happened.
You are quite confusing, what is your position with Hagel Circle?
Who cares what my position is? It’s not my school either way. I’m in the pyramid but not directly affected. FWIW I think they should end up at Lorton Station, the county should make some road improvements to connect the rear of Hagel farthest from Rt. 1 directly to Lorton Rd. (Which would make for a very quick bus ride or even a walk), and that the Saratoga LSES AAP students should attend Springfield Estates AAP like the rest of their pyramid. But we all know FCPS would never make such a bold move. They love the convoluted status quo.
First, I and I think some people would care because it will it help us better understand why you are taking certain position. Second, you cannot make that path! It is private property! Have you even been there… obviously not because there is a fence put up by Hagel Circle and the private community(HOA property) to separate the two communities for various reasons. That is not county property!!! It sounds good and doable but a nightmare to even try. Much easier to move the Hagel circle to Gunston. They’ve got room and the committee originally put them there with the scenario. Keep in mind, the consultants have much more info with the students, trends, capacity, which is why they had them at Gunston. I think when this is over, they will be part of Gunston elementary.
I'd be willing to bet there is no BRAC member in Gunston area.
Stop using abbreviations. What do you mean by “BRAC”?
You must be new here.
I am :)
You need to spend some time reviewing this thread and the old threads instead of jumping in, guns a blazin.
Just because I did not know what BRAC stood for doesn’t mean I am not aware of what’s going on. I’ve been involved in this thread for a few months now buddy.
Different buddy. Sorry. There has been a lot of discussion about BRAC and their comments. If you've been here for months, you are clueless.
Once again, the discussion we had was about the Gunston Hagel Circle issue. I’ve been following that discussion. First time since a few months someone mentioned BRAC related to Hagel Circle. And I asked what BRAC stood for. Got the answer now you’re insulting me. You should take your arrogant attitude elsewhere and let us engage on the Hagel Circle issue. If you have some ideas on how to resolve the proposed scenario, please do. Otherwise, your not helping buddy
BRAC has been mentioned on almost every single page of all three 300+ page rezoning threads, along with separate dedicated BRAC threads that keep getting shut down. The 2nd rezoning thread and the beginning of this thread both have some reeally good historical summaries with links if you want to catch up on this 2 year process. BRAC is a really basic term that has been a huge part of the rezoning discussion for 2 years this spring.
Put your ego away and let’s move on to having a fruitful discussion
