Really great article by Andrew Sullivan in the NYT today about how the advances made for LGT rights are being set back by the extreme Left’s all or nothing approach to trans issues and trying to get rid of genders. It really lays out well how things have been taken off the rails and how it’s turning off so many Americans, this dyed in the wool Democrat included. The party needs to have a Sista Soljah moment with this contingent and show the world that yes, we are ok with trans people and want to support them, but there are limits, esp. when it comes to children. This could help remove this as a wedge issue and show that Dems don’t fall for all of the far Left nonsense.
This +100. Unfortunately, I don't see the Dems shedding themselves of the extreme left’s all-or-nothing approach to trans issues and trying to get rid of genders. No more so than I see the Republicans shedding themselves of the extreme right's all-or-nothing approach to abortion. Extremism on both sides is what is ruining our society.
So, dyed-in-the-wool democrat…what is the Dem position on trans rights? We know what the MAGA policy is on abortion.
NP. All I see are articles such as this...https://www.dailysignal.com/2025/06/26/nyc-mayoral-candidate-vows-65-million-funds-transgender-care-penalties-noncompliant-hospitals/ Which makes me think we all know what the Dem position is. Now...I'm not anti-trans in the least...and transgender/gender affirming care is fine...but why isn't it considered "elective"? That's my issue. Also...I do take issue with minors having this done before puberty. I stand with JK Rowling.
