The party needs to have a Sista Soljah moment with this contingent and show the world that yes, we are ok with trans people and want to support them, but there are limits, esp. when it comes to children. This could help remove this as a wedge issue and show that Dems don’t fall for all of the far Left nonsense.
This +100.
Unfortunately, I don't see the Dems shedding themselves of the extreme left’s all-or-nothing approach to trans issues and trying to get rid of genders. No more so than I see the Republicans shedding themselves of the extreme right's all-or-nothing approach to abortion.
Extremism on both sides is what is ruining our society.
These are figments of the Fox News imagination. Just like the Trans athlete “crisis.”

Yet Mamdani is demanding 65 MILLION for nyc trans. Good luck, Democrats. You’re done.
The bogeyman is back and I am so scared.

I really wanted to read the NYT article, but don't have a subscription. I found this summary piece and am sharing:
https://nypost.com/2025/06/26/us-news/gay-journalist-says-lgbtq-movement-has-gone-from-civil-rights-success-to-madness/
Sullivan is 100% spot on.
Sullivan continued, “But this illiberalism made a fateful, strategic mistake. In the gay rights movement, there had always been an unspoken golden rule: Leave children out of it. We knew very well that any overreach there could provoke the most ancient blood libel against us: that we groom and abuse kids… So what did the gender revolutionaries go and do? They focused almost entirely on children and minors.”
He detailed how gender ideology proponents taught kids that “being a boy or a girl was something they could choose and change at will,” allowed biological males to compete in female sports, and, in some places, allowed kids to socially transition at school “without their parents’ knowledge or permission.”
The author then mentioned the “most radical of all: gender-affirming care for minors, which can lead to irreversible sex changes for children.”
And this right here is why the Republican party won. Sure...MAGA is full of their own radicals too. But which radicalism are you willing to live with? Which radicalism is the lesser of two evils.
Honestly...I voted for Harris...but my kids are adults and missed the whole gender radicalism. If my kids were still in elementary school I just might have voted for Trump.

So, dyed-in-the-wool democrat…what is the Dem position on trans rights? We know what the MAGA policy is on abortion.

Every MAGA is coming out of the closet to argue why Democrats CAN'T POSSIBLY win in 2026 or 2028. DEI, Trans, Insider trading - it's basically throw a bunch of stuff at the wall and see what sticks. But reality is that voters hate Donald Trump's actions. His approval ratings are in the toilet. They are going to sink even further as the impact of the Big Beautiful Giveaway to billionaires sinks in. It's going to be a cold wake-up call for you all in November 2026.
Americans have short memories. But don't you worry.
A few well crafted ads on the ridiculous crime stats, immigration stats, DEI, wars overseas and foreign policy spinning out of control (paying Iran big cash, Ukraine, Israel), taking the Houthi off of the terrorism watch list, putting Tulsi Gabbard on the terrorism watch list, the lawfare games, the administration disaster policy in East Palestine spill/Lahaina fire/Los Angeles fire/FEMA selectively ignoring anyone identifying as a Trump supporter in North Carolina, and all the other very unAmerican things the Biden White House autopen did.
I think you’ll find that Americans are sick of being outraged. Trump is losing on immigration and just about everything else. People needed a reminder that treating trans people with kindness wasn’t actually the worst thing in the world. Watching your business go under, your baby die of measles, your belly go hungry, and your best friend’s spouse get mistakenly deported, all while your taxes go up - that could actually be worse.
Only 5 months in and this administration is an utter disaster.
Trump voter here and I’m thrilled. Stock market at record highs. Iran nuclear capabilities destroyed. Peace in Rwanda and Congo. Lawfare over. DEI on the run. An enforced border. Etc.
Because Trump said so?
Why does the left always think they are smarter than everyone else? Your condescension hasn’t exactly gotten your party election results or approval ratings outside the 20s. Maybe try debating on the merits instead of insults? All of us can see the current stock market levels on a tv news article. Here is CBS. Good enough for you? Or do you need MSNBC to spell it out for you?
The S&P 500 reached a new record high, with investors buoyed by signs of easing global trade tensions.
The broad-based index rose 32 points, or 0.5%, to close at 6,173, surpassing its previous all-time high in February of 6,144. The S&P 500 has jumped roughly 24% since dropping sharply in the days after President Trump announced his "Liberation Day" tariffs on April 2.
The Nasdaq Composite gained 105 points, or 0.5%, and set its own all-time high. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1% to 43,819, still below its previous high of 45,014 on Dec. 4, 2024.
And yet my s&p indexed portfolio is still down from last year.
Maybe that’s your own portfolio choices. The data speaks for itself.
Well, people need to account for the roughly 15 percent decline in the value of the US dollar this year when looking at their portfolio. But agree that the market overall is pretty resilient. I think that's largely due to the TACO trade settling in as the norm. Trump's words have no meaning anymore. The more ridiculous Trump is, the more bullish the market.
This reads like a lot of excuses to backtrack on the silly claims that 1) the administration is “an utter disaster” and 2) I only think otherwise because “Trump told me so.” At least now you can admit the economy is doing well in his presidency so that’s progress.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:You’d think that standing for freedom and America and decency would be enough. We stand against maga fascism and racism and domestic terrorism.
Is that enough?
Alas... no. At this moment in time, Republicans are doing pretty well. Markets are up. Economy is ok. Illegal migrant crossing have dropped by more than 95 percent. Europe is finally increasing their defense spending. The Iran strikes were fairly useful and demonstrated what the US can do. China is pretty quiet. DEI is dead. The courts are generally ruling in favor of Republicans. I mean, all things considered, things are going pretty well for Republicans.
And in the meantime, Democrats are completely lost. Schumer and Jeffries are inadequate leaders. Progressives continue to gift Republicans with various issues - from unpopular trans legislation to putting up privileged far left candidates like Mamdani in NYC that don't really resonate with working class Americans - perpetuating all the stereotypes of Democrats being the party of out of touch wealthy Manhattanites. Trump's unpopularity will continue to decline, but he's not on the ballot anymore. And Democrats have offered nothing to step into the vacuum. The incompetence of the Democratic Party is breathtaking. Republicans are much better prepared for the post-Trump era.
