It's a small group of Crossfield AAP and sports moms who have a lot of time on their hands and have recruited their Oakton, Navy and Waples Mill friends to join a FB group and sign a petition to make it look like a huge portion of the Crossfield community supports staying at Oakton. Look in the FB group - I don't recognize 75% of the names. [/quote]

You are welcome to volunteer and run the PTA.

I don't ever volunteer for PTA stuff, and rarely volunteer for other stuff beyond the really easy things like collecting tickets at events.

I will never, ever understand the vitriol from some people towards the moms who are willing and able to volunteer all those hours to run and organize things like team funraisers, school carnivals, book fairs, stocking the staff breakrooms, bringing in performers and authors for school assemblies, funding high school scholarships, etc etc.

Those moms put in a ton of volunteer hours, fill in gaps when needed, and often use their own money to do so, doing double or triple shifts when most parents (like me) can't or won't take the time to step up and do their part.

The only thing I think when I see posts like this slamming the moms who step up and volunteer, unlike moms like me, is that the post is dripping of jealously, guilt and resentment because those moms are able and willing to make the time to invest in their kids' school to the benefit of all kids including the kids of those of us like me, who can't or don't want to volunteer.

Slamming the PTA moms instead of just saying thank you or saying nothing if you can't get over your resentment, guilt or jealousy, just looks really small and petty.

If you don't like what the PTA moms do for the school, just quietly opt your kid out of every event, presentation, book fair or assembly run and funded by these hard working moms, or step up and volunteer yourself.

Nope.

As I said, I never volunteer for anything at the school, other than taking tickets once or twice a year.

With nearly 20 years of contiuously having kids enrolled in FCPS,  I have never once joined the PTA, not attended a single PTA meeting, and have only attended the club and sports booster meetings that are the mandatory ones at the start of the season.

I appreciate the PTA moms and what they do for the schools and students, but have no desire to invest the time that they invest.[/quote]

My kids don’t go to Crossfield but I have heard some people complain that the after school activities and some other PTO sponsored things are pretty lacking compared to some other schools. I’ve also heard the Crossfield principal is the type who is particularly influenced by PTO parents and what they want. We all know some people volunteer for the good of their community, while others do it so they can make sure everything is set up to benefit their own children. [/quote]
No dog in the western fight, but just here to say you are the worse type of person. The one who will complain about somebody volunteering their time to help your kid and others while you sit idly by being lazy.  Gotta be tough to have so much cognitive dissonance.[/quote]

Who the hell are you to say I don’t volunteer for things? I work full time and would probably drop too may balls if I were on the PTO, but I volunteer for events at school and I am in thankless volunteer roles jobs for three of my kids’ extracurricular activities. Sorry you don’t like that some of us see through your selfish motives for taking on certain roles. [/quote]
