Spirit will drop both DA in VA and Maryland. Does not make sense to keep it if it costs money to manage/etc and they don't get a cut if it actually does make money... That said, some club in Maryland will get DA. I would agree with previous poster about Baltimore Armour or another conglomerate being created between Pipeline/SAC similar to Armour. They have some time to figure it out. Just depends on the egos involved... Virginia is already saturated with ECNL/DA. I would be surprised if Great Falls could keep it going after '19/'20. Moving on.
Why would they cut it if it is self sufficient and not really affecting Spirit's bottom line in a negative sense?
I'm guessing it is with all of these rumors along with the fact they completely got rid of Super-Y.
Interesting. Hadn't noticed Super Y dissolving. I think that could be more explained away as a quality control measure. It was obviously run as a money grab and Spirit did not really care about the actual product. Coaches likely were not well vetted. Certainly there were some quality coaches but the teams were all just thrown together with little to know tryouts. At least most Super Y clubs are run by ongoing travel clubs where there club players have an opportunity to keep training with teammates while opening the teams up to outside kids. This allows for a bit more cohesion while allowing some cross pollination for outside kids. So, while I can see Super Y going away leading one to conclude that the DA's are also doomed, I don't happen to believe that they are apples to apples.
