https://bsky.app/profile/atrupar.com/post/3miz2ahe4es2n JD Vance: "I think this comes from a legitimate misunderstanding. I think the Iranians thought the ceasefire included Lebanon, and it just didn't. We never made that promise, we never indicated that was gonna be the case." Lebanon was literally in the 10 point plan that the US agreed to. It is hard to understand if they are stupid, if they think we are stupid, if that are just that callous, or all of the above.
The US isn't bombing Lebanon. Israel is. Seems to me that Iran needs to be prosecuting a deal with Israel.
Just so we are clear: you are saying we should leave Israel high and dry?
Israel has repeatedly tried to sabotage any effort at peace. How many times have they assasinated negotiators in the midst of negotiations? 3 or 4? They knew what the terms were and willfully violated them. Their continued blood lust is harming us. They're more instransigent and expansionist than Iran is. Let that sink in. Do you have a better idea?
Israel also didn’t have a problem with this same Iranian government back in the 1980s when they and some republicans in the Reagan admin helped arm Iran illegally via Iran contra. At the time, Israel considered Saddam the biggest threat and Saddam was secular not an Islamic government. Whoever is a charismatic leader with friendships in the West and championing Palestinian rights is a threat to Israel. Gamal Abdel Nasswr was a secular president of Egypt in the 1960s and switched from USSR to pro America right before the 1967 USS liberty attack where Israel pretended to be Egypt and attacked a US ship. We need to sanction Israel. This idea that they give a shit about religious regimes and liberalizing people is Bs because they hated the secular governments too (Egypt, Iraq, Libya). In fact, the only ones they like are the real regimes like Saudi Arabia, Jordan, UAE, Kuwait. They don’t hold any elections or even have presidents like Iran. They have fake kingdoms that are held up by Us, Israel, Uk.
