44,000 federal government workers live in Illinois.  That's 2.4% of the total fedgov workforce.  As of 2017 anyhow.

Sure, a lot of workers live in the DC area. In 2017,it was 15% of the total fedgov workforce.   But that means that 85% of government workers do NOT live in the DC metro area.  The vast majority, in other words, don't live around here.[/quote]
