I can guarantee you some of these U13/U14 girls are not going to be dominant when they are older. Happens every year here though. Parents of the U12/U13/U14 talking championships, college, etc and two years later the poor kid is 5’1”, skinny, and gets pushed off the ball by bigger defenders and somehow still tries to ball hog because little Sally still thinks she is a star. Some teams will have 3 or 4 of these players and the team goes from being one the best to well, pedestrian. This isn’t even bringing in the who ACL aspect.

Remember Arlington 08s? Went from 1st to almost last in one year. Bethesda 08s were at the bottom 2 years ago. Loudoun 08s used to be below Arlington and not that good. Brave 08s were winless 2 years ago I think. VDA 09s were bad two years ago. Could go into older ages but I don’t think many of you would know.

My best advice to you is to raise your kid as an unselfish team player. Selfish players who YOU think look good are not from a College Coach view point. Those are a dime a dozen. It’s the players that have high energy combined with high IQ that make everyone around them better, that is what your DD should be striving for.

I remember Pipeline 2009 being a kick and chase team with the GK feeding the biggest, fastest girl on the field so it's no surprise they started to get caught when tey moved to 11v11.  [/quote]

Bethesda 09s were 1-13-2 in ECNL and a combined 0-6 in Jeff Cup and Premier Cup.   It looks like last year they only had one win after the trapped 08s left.  [/quote]

Can anyone name one Bethesda team that hasn’t dropped off significantly in the older age groups?  Bethesda older teams make Arlington older teams look great.  [/quote]
