Our inability to hold onto two sports teams is going to be another road block in transitioning The District into the State of Washington, Douglass Commonwealth
Washington DC is more likely to convince the Commanders to pay double for a DC stadium than ever get statehood. DC pols need to focus on the basics: crime, education, being business friendly. Forget the visions of statehood grandeur.
+ 1. It was never going to happen.
Besides Pinto, none of them seem to have any interest in the above. Bowser had a rep as more pro-business but the handling of the Leonsis relationship this past year is honestly shocking. They did not stir themselves from their torpor until literally 12 hours before the VA press conference start. Their $$$$/dem socialist of america "whole government" and "public health" approach to government is a failure, not just here but on the west coast as well. What prominent business people might even run? Truancy is 88% in some HS and when Mendo held a hearing on it, it started hours late, with no notification on the stream. They are beyond unprofessional. Why was Bowser off to Dubai when this was pending? Much of the Council have VERY thin CVs, for several it was a brief stint working for Racine, then $200k+ on Council. They lack experience, perspective and professional behavior. They don't even bother showing up at Wilson Building much of the time and Trayon Zooms in to hearings while DRIVING. Sure giving undivided attention there. They are an embarrassment but no idea who would even replace them that would not be worse. It's clear that Geldart and Falcicchio did a lot of propping up of Bowser. The wheels have really come off and the illusion of competence is gone.
