Some people do not realize that it is incorrect, which is a shame.

The donors are the subject of the sentence, whereas Jimmy Bierman and Robyn Lady are the object. Therefore, Robyn should have said: Thank you for inviting Bob and me.

On the other hand, if Robyn and Jimmy were the ones who invited the donors over, then they would be the subject of the sentence and the donors the object.  Therefore, Robyn could say: Jimmy and I invited the donors over…[/quote]
