Lavelle best player on the team hands down. Waiting for Pugh to get to the next level. Older players need to be replaced soon....
Of course they need to be replaced in time, but they deliver as-is. Contrast that to men's side...
As was posted on the other WC thread, the USWNT did a great job replacing the older players from the 2015 team with younger players on the 2019 team. The 2015 team included players like Hope Solo, Abby Wambach, Christine Rampone, Heather O'Reilly, Lauren Holiday, Shannon Boxx, Meghan Klingebberg, etc., all of whom either retired or did not make the 2019 roster. In addition, key starters from the 2015 team like Carly Lloyd, Ali Krieger, Morgan Brian, etc. were transitioned out of the starting lineup and into reserve roles on the 2019 team. That is a lot of players who were replaced over the last 4 years, and the USWNT did a great job integrating their replacements into the 2019 team. As for the future, there is already a good core of players from the 2019 team who should still be quite good by the 2023 WC: Ertz (27), Mewis (26), Dahlkemper (26), Dunn (26), Horan (25), Lavelle (24), Pugh (21) and Davidson (20).
