I may not have been aware of what was going on but I always saw this as more of a newer generation kind of mentality.  Maybe around when Bethesda magazine or Washingtonian magazine posted that article a while back about how private school kids would play games like that.  Can't remember the details.

But the mentality about American Women has been around for a while.  In Asia too, which a later poster touched upon as well.  I think there blurbs about it in travel guides mentioning it.[/quote]
