This is exactly it. But Trump's supporters include many haters. They, like he, find it easier to blame others -- immigrants, Muslims, Mexicans -- for their economic and other woes than to address these complex problems realistically. Trump is wooing his people using simple, hate-based arguments and the haters are lapping it up, many of them waving their guns.

I was beyond apalled at Trump's response to the Orlando shootings. The shooter was an American-born maniac filled with hatred, but he was not a member of a terrorist group. How would Trump's proposal to ban Muslims protect Americans from other Americans? If the killer had not had access to semi-automatic guns, he could not have killed so many so quickly. Hatred is the root, but guns are the weapon of choice of hate-filled maniacs because they are so easy to obtain thanks to the NRA and its supporters.

Here's my suggestion: Why don't we deport all NRA members and then ban them and their families from entering this country? That, plus a ban on semi-automatic weapons, and our country will be a much safer place.

Mateen wasn't a maniac.  He was following his chosen religion of Islam which states that being gay is punishable by death and he martyred himself for the Koran.

I have never met or even heard of any Muslim and certainly no Muslim leader who doesn't basically come across as an apologist for these kinds of attacks. Among themselves, they are fine with it, because they know someone like Omar Mateen is just a true believer in their shared religion and willing to die for it.  So they actually admire him. I do not know why Mateen did it. There is anger and Hate for sure. Maybe he was also instigated by ISIS ideology. But this is no different than the hate, anger of white supremacist ideology. I am only changing only few words of your paragraph below and see how what you said sounds same for white supremacist ideology. So now what do you think?
