National guard is actually deployed overseas?  I looked it up after (figuring it was just another way for them to eek out another story line for 45 min.).  It's usually state emergency - national disaster or rioting.  In the latter case we've seen the President do it (call up the National Guard) for rioting but I've never heard of them ever being sent overseas.[/quote]

My husband is a Guardsman and definitely went to Afghanistan.  9 months.[/quote]
