That "$100K profit" would be gone in 3 years for one child, or in 1.5 years if you have two children. Put another way, if a couple has two kids, then either mom or dad has to make an extra $100,000 every single year to pay tuition. That's not so easy, or certain. I say that as someone who experienced that the hard way, when the employment picture changed unexpectedly.[/quote] That's assuming they don't qualify for financial aid.[/quote]
