DH here - I once asked this very question. DW likely has at least 150 pairs of shoes. Pisses me off. Then I asked a female work colleague what is with womens' fascination with shoes ? And she said because they always fit. My DW has always struggled with her weight and I am sure is/was self conscious about it. It still pisses me off, esp. as she has exposed me daughters to what I call "consumerism" but I understand it better and so have become a little less judgemental - not much. But when you mention that at an average of $100.00 a pair she has 15,000.00 to 20,000.00 in shoes, and you want to explode, you realize you are not going to change it.

I find my greater angst is when she explains to me how she saved me money by buying them on-sale. Yeah, makes me want to explode. She was a SAHM for a long time but I cut that out. Amex bills the size of a mortgage payment is not my idea of budgeting.
