OP here. Obviously my original post was a bit tongue in cheek. I was just curious as to women's fixation with shoes. I couldn't say how many pairs DW actually has, though it seems like a lot to me. Not sure how many are in regular rotation but I'd guess that there are at least 50 pairs strewn about the closet and bedroom. I don't think most of them are particularly expensive though. Nothing thrills her more than some stranger commenting that they like her shoes though. That's a day-maker for her.
OP, if your DW likes shoes so much, why take that away from her? As long as you can afford it, what is the issue? I assume it is one little thing she enjoys in life. I am a shoe buyer myself. I buy 5-8 pairs of shoes in year ranging from $30-$200. I think I spend about $700-$1000. Some shoes are good choices, and some are not (because they hurt so badly). We can afford my shoe habit. DH is happy that I am happy. He actually points out to me some shoes that he thinks I may like and he think will look good on me. Again, if you can afford it, let her be happy. Life is too short.
