I, too, have had a pixie for a long time (about 5 years.) I love it--I really play up my femininity by wearing pretty earrings a lot, and lipstick. Now, I'm growing it out into a jaw-length bob. It hasn't been terribly painful or awkward because I've gotten the back trimmed frequently (about every 6-7 weeks) so it's slightly stacked (no mullet). My hair now almost covers my ears (I started growing it out at Christmas--so I've been at this around 3 months). I expect I'll have a short bob by June, or about 6 months after I started.

But I love the pixie so much, I think I'll probably go back to it before too long. [/quote]
