I'm growing it out now and there are some awkward times, but a good hair dresser will help get you through them. I recommend Immortal Beloved on 14th St... they have several stylists who focus on short hair and everyone I see when I go in for my appointments looks amazing.
Also, as a frequent headache sufferer, you have no idea how amazing it is to never have to wear a ponytail!! IT IS SO AMAZING!!!
I have to say, anyone over 20 should not be wearing a ponytail. Ponytails and pigtails are for kids. I know I'm not in the majority thinking this but grown women with ponytails look ridiculous. (I am not the pixie cut hating troll by the way, I had a pixie cut for years!)
oy fucking vey
you people sure do have a lot of rules about what other women should and shouldn't be doing with their own damn bodies and heads
Lol really! I don't keep my hair in a ponytail bc of how it looks, I do it for my own comfort. Had no idea it was only allowed for kids. Over 20 you say? How can you tell if someone is older than 20? I'm in my thirties and people mistake me for being much younger all the time. Maybe it's my ponytail.![]()
I expect you're kidding yourself. I've seen a lot of moms in their 30s at school with ponytails, hoping they look younger than they do. It still looks ridiculous.
You think people wear ponytails in an attempt to look young? We are from different worlds I guess. Glad I'm not as insecure and ... well I can't think of the word I need... as you are.

I have a pixie, and have had one on and off for years. I love it! When I have long hair, I have to pull it back or it really drags my face down. A short cut plays up my eyes and cheekbones and looks much more stylish and flattering on me.
It does require more maintenance, in that you have to go in every 6 weeks for trims. But it makes up for it in the ease of styling it in the morning. I color my hair, so I'd be going in that often for root touch-ups anyway.
Growing out is really only a pain for a little while, if you have a good stylist. You have to get the sides longer, and then you just cut it into a short bob that you grow out. I've done it several times and its not that bad. Although I might never grow it out again. The older I get, the more flattering the pixie is on me.
